A Mother standing by her teenage daughter’s grave . . .

While in Kenya, we were asked to do a funeral service for a teenager that had died.  Of course, we were happy to do so and shared our faith/the Gospel with about 300-350 people.  We discovered that the teenager had been invited to attend services at one of the churches we support.  While there, this teenager heard the Gospel and got saved.  Later, she needed medical attention but couldn’t get any because of their poverty.  Her mother tried self-help medical treatment but the daughter died.

The mother’s church refused to do the funeral because the mother didn’t meet the church’s standards (attendance, dress, giving, blah, blah, blah!).  We were so happy to help.

After the funeral service, we went to talk to the mother to reassure her that she would see her daughter again.  Yet the mother cried because the mother had not trusted Christ as her Saviour.  Why?  Because of her church’s judgmental attitude, she thought God didn’t love or care about her or her eternal salvation.  Well, we shared John 3:16, John 14:6, Romans 5:8, 6:23, 10:9,10,13, Ephesians 2: 8,9 and other verses of the compassion of Christ, God’s free gift of salvation and the heart’s desire of  Christ to save her.  When she realized His compassion she trusted Christ in prayer as her Saviour while tears flowed.  Just think, I’m glad God doesn’t leave it up to a bunch of church “leaders”, church rules, “do’s and don’ts”, blah, blah, blah, to get us to Heaven.  I’m glad of God’s compassion, mercy and grace.  I think I’ll just stay on Christ’s highway of compassion, mercy and grace.  I’ll let God do all the judging He wants in eternity.  Let God be the judge.  Let us be the heart of His compassion, mercy and grace.  Let us just love people.  Yep, Christ’s compassion can change any and all hearts.  Yep, that’s true!! Yep, that was one mother I was so glad I met!  God is so good. Kenya 2012.

“. . . The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” James 5: 16

God’s Promises to each of us.

He that oppresseth the poor reproacheth his Maker: but he that honoureth Him hath mercy on the poor. Proverbs 14: 31

When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? or naked, and clothed thee? Or when saw we thee sick, or in prison, and came unto thee?

And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily Isay unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto Me.

Matthew 25: 37-40

He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will He pay him again. Proverbs 19: 17

Whoso stoppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard. Proverbs 21: 13

Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
